How to answer in Japan
⚠ Some people are told to answer “no” even when they do have relatives here, to avoid follow-up questions. It does not work. The form for a Certificate of Eligibility — the application made from outside Japan — has a section for family living in Japan, and uncles and aunts are named on it, and a false statement on that application is grounds for your status of residence to be revoked. Answer honestly.
