How to answer in Japan
★ Do not guess. Ask them to repeat it. Answering vaguely when you did not understand is a common way people lose an interview: your next answer will not match the question, and the interviewer will notice. ★ Asking for it “again” is not enough on its own: they will simply say the same thing at the same speed. Ask for it slowly as well.

Sorry — could you say that again, slowly?
❌ Not enough
（聞き取れないまま）はい、わかりました。
“Yes, I understand.” — when you did not. Your next answer will not match the question, and the interviewer will notice.
